NSW: Meakin to face court in April on drink driving charge
SYDNEY, Feb 15 AAP - A hearing date has been set for a case involving a television
news executive charged over a drink driving offence in October last year.
The Seven Network's head of news and current affairs Peter Meakin will face Manly Local
Court on April 16 after a hearing date was set in the same court today.
Mr Meakin has been charged with three offences after returning a blood alcohol reading
of 0.10, twice the legal limit, on Sydney's northern beaches on October 4.
Last month he pleaded guilty to a charge of mid-range drink driving, but not guilty
to the other charges of driving recklessly or dangerously and disobeying a signal to stop
for a breath test.
It is the second time Meakin, who did not appear in court today, has been charged with
drink driving.
The 64-year-old has a previous conviction, having driven with a blood alcohol level
of 0.145 in November 2004, nearly three times the legal limit.
